Arad Y, Spadaro LA, Roth M, Newstein D, Guerci AD. Treatment of Asymptomatic Adults With Elevated Coronary Calcium Scores With Atorvastatin, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E: The St. Francis Heart Study Randomized Clinical Trial. J Am Coll Cardiol 2005;46:166–72.
In this paper, the authors erroneously reported that 30% of subjects had a family history of premature coronary artery disease. The correct figure is 54%.
This error does not affect the conclusions of the St. Francis Heart Study randomized clinical trial: treatment of low- and intermediate-risk middle-aged subjects with atorvastatin, 20 mg daily, vitamin C, 1 g daily, and vitamin E, 1,000 U daily, was associated with a 30% reduction in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease events (p = 0.08) and did not affect the rate of progression of coronary calcification.
The authors apologize for this error.
