The following changes were made to the article by Creager MA, Belkin M, Bluth EI, et al., “2012 ACCF/AHA/ACR/SCAI/SIR/STS/SVM/SVN/SVS Key Data Elements and Definitions for Peripheral Atherosclerotic Vascular Disease: A Report of the American College of Cardiology Foundation/American Heart Association Task Force on Clinical Data Standards (Writing Committee to Develop Clinical Data Standards for Peripheral Atherosclerotic Vascular Disease),” as it appears in the January 17, 2012, issue of the Journal (J Am Coll Cardiol 2012;59:294–357; doi: 10.1016/j.jacc.2011.10.860) after it published ahead of print December 6, 2011:
The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) endorsed the document December 14, 2011, after it published ahead of print on December 6, 2011. SVS approval was noted on p. 294 and p. 304. The document title was appended with “SVS” throughout the article.
In Section 2.2, Relationships With Industry and Other Entities, the last paragraph (p. 297), the following sentence was deleted, “In addition, to ensure complete transparency, writing committee members' comprehensive disclosure information—including relationships not pertinent to this document—is available online as a supplement to this document.” The associated data supplement was deleted from the Journal Web site, which read:
It is the policy of the American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Heart Association to make available online complete disclosure of relationships with industry and other entities of the writing committee, including relationships not pertinent to a document. Because the “2012 ACCF/AHA/ACR/SCAI/SIR/STS/SVM/SVN Key Data Elements and Definitions for Peripheral Atherosclerotic Vascular Disease” document was initiated before this policy was enacted, comprehensive disclosures were not collected. See Appendix 1 of the article for the relationships of writing committee members with industry and other entities that were reported by authors to be relevant to the document.
In the Appendix 2 footnote, the last paragraph, the definition of “SVS” was corrected from “Society of Vascular Surgeons” to “Society for Vascular Surgery.”
