To observe the value of cardiac motion quantification (CMQ) in assessing regional myocardial motion of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome with insulin resistance (IR-PCOS).
40 women with polycystic ovary syndrome and 40 age-matched healthy women (control group) were studied. Blood pressure, blood lipid, fasting blood glucose, plasma insulin and sex hormone were measured. The insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) was calculated. Insulin resistance was defined as HOMA-IR greater than or equal to 1.66. Echocardiography was performed in IR-PCOS group and control group. Left ventricular images were recorded and analyzed using the CMQ software. Longitudinal, radial, and circumferential systolic peak strain and left ventricular torsion angles of the left ventricular were measured and compared.
1. Compared with the control group, longitudinal, radial and circumferential peak strain of the IR-PCOS group reduced, rotation angle of the apical level and twist angle of left ventricular increased. 2. The peak time of partial segment in left ventricle was significantly delayed compared with the control group.
The CMQ technology can accurately quantify regional myocardial function, providing a sensitive and noninvasive means to assess regional myocardial motion.
