To investigate the correlation between levels of serum uric acid (UA) with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HF-pEF).
The patients (n=133) with HF-pEF were recruited as HF-pEF group, and then they were divided into 3 groups based on NYHA classification: NYHA II group (n=54), NYHA III group (n=47) and NYHA IV group (n=32). Meanwhile the persons having physical examination with normal heart function were chosen as control group (n=95). The levels of serum UA, BNP, blood glucose and low desnity lipoprotein cholesterol were detected, the indexes of IVST, LVPWT, LVEDd, LVEF and E/A were detected by using ultrasonic cardiogram, and LVMI was calculated in HF-pEF groups.
Compared with control group, the level of serum UA increased (454.00±95.86 vs 300.57±53.10, P=0.000), In multifactor Logistic analysis, for patients with HF-pEF, the OR of serum uric acid was 1.028 (P =0.000); In contrast, The levels of serum uric acid, BNP, E/A and LVMI were significantly differences amog NYHA II group, NYHA III group and NYHA IV group, levels of LVEF were no statistically differences in two groups comparison.
Hyperuricemia may be a risk factor for HF-pEF. The combined detection of serum UA, BNP, E/A and LVMI has guiding significance in the anticipation of severity and prognosis of HF-pEF.
