Peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor-γcoactivator-1α (PGC-1α) is a kind of protein co-activator controlling mitochondria biogenesis and energy metabolism in cells that demanding abundant ATP. N-terminal truncated PGC-1αis a selective splice variance of PGC1α, which are located in cytoplasm and its function are unknown in NRCM.
NRCMs were extracted from SD rats. NRCMs were stimulated with phenylephrine and angiotensin with present and absent of CRM1 inhibitor. ATP levels were detected by enhanced ATP kits, and enzymes in fatty acid oxidation were detected by qPCR.
The levels of ATP were increased by CRM1 inhibitor. (P<0.05), and CPT2, acadvl were also increased.
Increased nuclear NT-PGC-1α may increase fatty acid oxidation to supply more ATP, which can provide a novel target in heart failure therapy.
