Background: We propose a new comprehensive code system to convey relevant information of coronary artery lesions.
Methods: A single centre, observational study of 100 patients with normal CAGs to a) assess segmental length & coronary diameters, b) number, size & location of major branches arising from each segment.
Results: Mean lengths of left main, LAD, LCX & RCA were 8.90±4.9, 116.25±15.84, 62.02 ±10.00 and 93.82±17.63 mm & mean diameters were 4.01±0.79, 2.25±0.30, 2.14±0.46, 2.62±0.53mm, respectively. Each vessel divided into 3 segments, – I (proximal −40 mm), II (middle 40mm) & III (the distal rest). CALD code system defines fixed position sequential description of various characteristics. First- vessel involved, second – %stenosis, third -segment of the vessel involved, fourth- Type of lesion, fifth – side branch description, sixth-various characteristics of vessel and lesion JCTO in sequence, seventh- TIMI flow, eighth- MBG grade and ninth- dominance.
Conclusions: This is a simple code system to express lesion description and semi-quantitative coronary flow characteristics to predict pre procedural myocardial geopardy. Key words: coronary artery classification, interventional cardiology
