To investigate the relevance of serum 8-iso-PGF2 and UA of patients with essential hypertension.
A total number of 85 patients with essential hypertension were recruited as cases in reference to the 2010 Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of Hypertension in China (classified as grade1, grade2, grade3),and 31 normal patients were allocated as controls. The level of 8-iso-PGF2α and UA were investigated in both groups.
The level of 8-iso-PGF2α was significantly higher when compared all groups of patients with essential hypertension to the control group(P<0.05). The grade 1 hypertension group has significantly decreased 8-iso-PGF2α expression compared to grade 2 and grade 3 hypertension group (P<0.05),whereas, no significant difference was found in between the grade 2 and grade 3 hypertension group (P>0.05). Furthermore, the level of UA was significantly increased in patients of grade 3 hypertension group when compared with other hypertension groups and the controls (P<0.05). The level of UA of grade 1 hypertension group was significantly lower than grade 2 hypertension group (P<0.05). No significant difference was found in the level of UA across grade 1, grade 2 hypertension group and control group (P>0.05). Nevertheless, there was a moderate positive correlation between the level of 8-iso-PGF2α and SBP(Systolic Blood Pressure)and DBP (Diastolic Blood Pressure)(r=0.565, r=0.503,P<0.01), whereas, the level of 8-iso-PGF2α was slightly relevant with the level of UA (r=0.341, P<0.01).
The level of 8-iso-PGF2α and UA contributed to the progression of essential hypertension, probably by increasing the level of oxidative stress and inflammatory reaction,8-iso-PGF2α and UA result in the dysfunction of vascular endothelium.(the increase of peripheral vascular resistance, the continuous rise of blood pressure and the damage of blood vessel, and developing the mutual impact with the occurrence of hypertension. The clinical application of 8-iso-PGF2α and UA as sensitive predictors of primary hypertension requires further investigation.
