This study aimed to know the implementation of a salt-reduction project in schools of a province, to find out the effective salt-reduction activities, the difficulties and the representative suggestions in the project.
One staff was selected in the Education Department of the Province, the Bureau of Education in four cities respectively. One health education teacher in each school in six cities respectively from the province and a total of 14 residents were selected into study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted among these 25 participants. NVIVO 11.0 of QSR was used to analyze data.
Salt-reduction courses in primary and secondary schools were implemented well. Students liked chemical experimental course, vacation practice homework and informational poster about salt-reduction children designed their own most. The salt-reduction work in school cafeteria has not implemented. The assessment mechanism of salt-reduction courses is not strict enough. There are difficulties such as understaffing in education department, incomplete long-term working mechanism, insufficient capital equipment support and insufficient teachers and classroom for salt-reduction work in school.
The salt-reduction work in school of the province has been carried out well. Activities students like can be extended the in later projects, with more support of capital equipment and regular long-term working mechanism as well.
